Product Overview
A saw does not have to take up much room in your outdoor kit. The Rothco Commando Wire Saw uses a compact, flexible wire design instead of a traditional rigid blade, making it easy to carry in a backpack or survival bag. It is a lightweight alternative for hikers, campers, and anyone assembling a small collection of outdoor tools.
Flexible cutting with a two-handed grip
The stainless steel wire can cut through wood, plastic, and bone. Its flexibility lets you position it around the object being cut, then work it back and forth to form a V-shaped incision. Rather than relying on a rigid saw frame, the cutting action comes from pulling the wire alternately from either end.
Circular thumb loops at both ends give you defined places to hold the saw during that back-and-forth motion. This arrangement keeps the tool compact while providing a grip at each end of the cutting wire. If pack space is a priority, the wire format is the main reason to choose it over a conventional saw.
- Material: Stainless steel wire.
- Listed length: 22 inches, with a 20¼-inch sawing section between the two clamps.
- Grip: Circular thumb loops at either end.
For a camping pack, hiking kit, or survival bag, this is a straightforward way to carry a cutting tool without dedicating space to a traditional saw. Choose it for its small packing footprint and flexible, manual cutting action.
