Product Overview
A clearly visible line and limited stretch are important considerations when choosing rope for rappelling. The Rothco 150' Orange Rescue Rappelling Rope combines a static, all-polyester construction with a bright orange finish, giving you a readily identifiable rope for rescue and rappelling equipment setups. Its 150-foot length and 7/16-inch diameter are useful starting points when checking the requirements of your intended route and equipment.
Polyester construction for outdoor conditions
This rope uses polyester throughout, rather than combining different materials in its construction. Polyester absorbs very little water, making it well suited to wet environments where moisture exposure is part of the job. The material also offers UV resistance for outdoor use, while the static construction keeps stretch low.
The dense outer sheath provides abrasion resistance where the rope encounters friction during handling and use. That protective outer layer is an important part of a rope intended for demanding applications, although abrasion resistance does not eliminate the need to inspect a line for wear. Rothco also supplies the rope preshrunk to help limit additional shrinkage in the field.
Visibility and equipment planning
The bright orange color makes the line easier to spot, which is helpful when identifying it among other equipment or following its position against an outdoor background. For customers assembling a rappelling kit, the stated diameter is especially important: check it against the rope requirements of your chosen devices rather than assuming every piece of rappelling hardware accepts the same size.

- Reported tensile strength: 7,660 lb test
- Standards: Meets or exceeds UIAA and NFPA standards
- Country of origin: USA
When evaluating this rope, remember that a tensile-strength figure is not a working-load rating. Static rope is a low-stretch rope category, not a substitute for dynamic climbing rope intended to absorb climbing falls. Select and use it within an appropriate rappelling or rescue system, with suitable training and compatible equipment.
